GentooxThe original Xbox adaptation of Gentoo

News : Great news indeed...

GentooxSo after compiling some new kernels with different options, I noticed that if the kernel grew over a certain size... bam, it would randomly error on boot. One symptom was devfs not working.

This instantly triggered an alarm in my head that the memory mapping in cromwell wasnt accomodating the size of the kernel. Then it dawned on me, Oliver had recently rewritten the memory mapping code for Cromwell. I downloaded the latest Cromwell from CVS, compiled it, and what do you know... my previously buggy 2.4.22 kernel boots. Then, I figured since the problem with 2.6.x was devfs not seeming to work, I'd try to compile my own 2.6.6... and guess what, it works!

I've been working frantically to get Cromwell customised again, which I've just finished now. Now I'm working on a 2.6.6 patch. Oh... the other good news is that the reiserfs bug seems to have disappeared in 2.6, I checked over the code and there has been a significant change to the affected area.

So anyway, with that said. I'll get back to work ;)
