News : Magic back up... didn't get as much done as I'd hoped.
Ok. The main reason I took magic down was to upgrade the kernel. However, reiserfs is determined to stop me from doing this. I constantly get a journal-601 error which means that a buffer write to the journal failed. I tried delaying the write attempt, I added code to retry the write attempt (it tried 1000 times then gave up), I even took out the retry attempt limit but this just caused the Xbox to get stuck in an infinite loop. In the end I had to resort dirty hack to "solve" for this... which was simply to take out the reiserfs_panic line which causes this lockup. It worked, I didnt lose any data, but its not ideal. For this reason, there is no kernel update as of yet and I will definitely have to move to a different filesystem for future releases. However... this obsoletes all previous versions. I'll have to look into a solution for this... but thats for another day.What I have got done:
* Updated ALSA to 1.0.4.
* Updated GDM patch so the on screen keyboard works again.
* Updated xbvset so it works with the latest GDM.
* Removed openMosix
I've tested this on a clean installation of Home v3.0c and it all seems to work fine, so let me know. For now, I'm going to look into alternative filesystems.
