This Linux distribution contains no copyrighted Microsoft code, no hacked
executables, no illegally compiled executables and no other illegal
material to the best of my knowledge.  If anything is later discovered
to be illegal, when given reasonable proof, this distribution will be
taken out of circulation and destroyed and you must do the same.

This software comes with absolutely no warranty and I will not be held
liable for anything bad that comes of using it.  I will not be held
responsible for any losses incurred from using this software.

This software has the potential of ruining all the data stored on your
Xbox including your TSOP or modchip.  You use this software and any
subsequent software downloaded by this program at your own risk.

0.0 - What is this?

This is an absolutely minimal Linux environment which can be used to reflash
your modchip/ TSOP or to recover broken installations.  No help is provided,
if you dont know what you're doing - don't use this.  This tool is mainly for
Linux gurus who are capable of debugging their installations.  There are,
however, a few easy to use scripts for reflashing your BIOS, moving Gentoox
to F:, moving Gentoox back to E: and for moving Gentoox to a Native F:.

To reflash your BIOS run "sh /bin/reflash", to move Gentoox to F: run
"sh /bin/f-drive", to move Gentoox to E: run "sh /bin/e-drive".  To move
Gentoox to Native F:, run "sh /bin/native".  Note that Gentoox MUST be
installed on E: to be moved to native F: for fairly obvious reasons.  The
script will warn you if its not and ask you to run e-drive first.  Once
moved to a native partition, you CANNOT move it back to a loopback installation.

The reflash script requires internet access.  If you know what you are doing,
you can use "raincoat -p" manually (providing you have a suitable BIOS on your
Xbox's hard drive)

0.5 Useful information

The Xbox's hard drives are mapped as follows under Resctoox

/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part51 - C:
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part50 - E:
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part52 - X:
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part53 - Y:
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part54 - Z:
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part55 - F:

Any scripts will mount them as needed automatically.  This is just as a
reference for anyone wishing to do their own debugging.

1.0 - How to use

Place the CD in your Xbox's drive then boot it up (either boot from
Cromwell or allow the CD to boot normally).  Select the "CD/DVD"
icon on the far left.  Follow the on screen instructions.

Note that you do not NEED to use SSH - if you have a keyboard simply
plug it in and press Ctrl-C to enable the on-screen terminal.

2.0 - Integrated features

FTPd     - Anonymous FTP access with root priveleges.  This is VERY insecure,
but since this isn't intended to be a distribution which is left up
and running all the time, its safe enough.  Obviously when
transferring files TO the Xbox check that the MD5 sums match...
this is ESPECIALLY important when transferring a BIOS to be flashed!
The STOR and DELE commands are experimental.  All FTP transactions
are undertaken as 'root'.  New files will be created with rw-r--r--
           (644) permissions and will be owned by root.  New directories will
be created with rwxr-xr-x (755) permissions and will be owned by

SSHd     - SSH access:
             Username: root
             Password: xbox

wget     - Download files from remote HTTP servers.

raincoat - Flash your TSOP/ Modchip.

scripts  - To reflash your modchip/ TSOP, run "sh /bin/reflash"
To move Gentoox from E: to F:, run "sh /bin/f-drive"
To move Gentoox from F: to E:, run "sh /bin/e-drive"
To run Gentoox from native F:, run "sh /bin/native"

nano     - A very easy to use text editor

FS tools - mke2fs (ext2/3 formatter), e2fsck (ext2/3 checker),
reiserfsck (reiserfs checker), tune2fs (ext2/3 tuner),
reiserfstune (reiserfs tuner), mkreiserfs (reiserfs formatter).
